4th of July Events

Here are some fun family events to help you celebrate the 4th of July!!

Eclipse Events

On Monday August 21st, all of North America will witness a solar eclipse. While we here in So Cal won’t get a total eclipse, we will have a pretty good event! It looks like about 65% (approximately) of the sun will be covered at the peak moment.

For our area the event will start around 9:06 AM and end around 11:45 AM. The most the sun will be covered is at 10:21 AM!

Below are a list of events in Orange County if you do not have the equipment to do this on your own and you don’t want to make a Pinhole Projector. (Information here: https://eclipse.aas.org/eye-safety/projection and here: http://www.discoverycube.org/blog/moment-science-solar-eclipse/)

Please do not look at the sun or let your children look at the sun during the event. This can cause terrible eye damage!

If you are purchasing, or did purchase, glasses so that you can watch the event, please check if they are counterfeit. Counterfeit glasses could lead to the same eye damage as if you weren’t wearing them!

Use these websites to find out if your glasses are on the approved list and how to spot counterfeits!
